Steel Post Advantage +

Why traditional posts fail

For decades, most fences have been built by digging a hole, placing a post, and filling it with concrete. It feels solid at first — and for a while, it is.

The problem is what happens over time:

  • Wood posts: Concrete traps moisture against the wood. Wood soaks it up like a sponge, and Minnesota’s freeze–thaw cycles accelerate rotting underground. The post may look fine above ground, but below, it loses strength.

Most fences we replace aren’t failing because of the panels; they’re failing because the posts underneath can’t hold up against Minnesota’s soil and weather conditions.

Our solution: Driven steel posts

We drive galvanized steel posts deep into the ground, below the frost line — this is what we mean when we say our fences are built for Minnesota weather.

  • No concrete, no trapped moisture: Unlike traditional concrete footings, water can drain naturally, keeping posts and fence panels safe from rot or weakening.

  • Deeper than traditional posts: While most concrete footings are around 2 feet deep, our steel posts are driven 4+ feet into the soil, creating unmatched stability.

  • Durable through freeze–thaw cycles: The posts move naturally with the soil during frost heaves, preventing leaning or failure.

Steel posts are used for all our wood fences:

  • Wood fences (steel X-posts)

  • Gate posts (driven steel pipe with oversized sleeves)

This method gives every fence a strong, stable foundation that lasts decades, even in the harshest Minnesota winters.

Structure first style second

Fence styles are a personal choice — the foundation isn’t.

No matter which fence you choose, we start with a strong, stable structure:

  • Premium steel posts driven deep below the frost line

  • High-quality cedar wood materials

  • Installation methods that prevent leaning, shifting, and frost heave

By focusing on the foundation first, your fence stays straighter, gates operate longer, and repairs are far less common — even years down the road.

This is where we’re different: we build fences to last, not just to look good.
